Professor Matthew Maddocks
Co-Programme Director
Health and Care Strategies for Ageing Populations MSc (Online)
Matthew is an academic physiotherapist specialising in rehabilitation and palliative care. He leads research advancing symptom management and rehabilitation for serious illnesses, focusing on issues like breathlessness, fatigue, cachexia, sarcopenia, and frailty.
His extensive publications cover numerous topics, including COVID-19 symptom management, end-of-life care preferences, and innovative interventions in palliative care. He serves as joint deputy director for the NIHR Applied Research Collaborative for South London, where he is co-lead for the Palliative & End of Life Care theme.
